INTEGRATED DATA CENTER MANAGEMENT

INTEGRATED DATA CENTER MANAGEMENT

DATA CENTER INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT

There are many problems to be faced every day in a Data Center: from managing a complex IT environment, to cutting operating and energy costs and to maximizing space and resources.

Today, thanks to StruxureWare™ for Data Centers software and Medielettra, it's possible to get the most out of your Data Center while simplifying management and automatic control operations.

StruxureWare™ for Data Centers is an advanced Data Center infrastructure management (DCIM) suite that gives you the end-to-end visibility you need: from the rack to the row to the room to the entire building. To optimize, make it work better and manage your Data Center, giving it the maximum in resilience and continuity of service.

Medielettra has over thirty years of experience in technological systems that it makes available to IT systems and Data Centers, creating customized solutions for Data Centers, dealing with the infrastructure (server systems, network and storage hardware, data processing resources, redundant power supply systems) and all that is necessary for the perfect functioning and monitoring of a Data Center.

MANAGED ACTIVITIES
  • Smart PDU
  • Environmental sensors
  • Sensors on electrical panels
  • Sensors on generator sets
  • Sensors on conditioning machines
  • Sensors on plant automation logics (BMS)
  • Setup Software DCIM
  • Sensors on Server/Switch/Router

ADVANTAGES OF AN INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR DATA CENTERS STARTING WITH THE PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

  • Ability to adapt facility cooling needs as IT loads vary for optimal resource utilization
Monitor carbon emissions and resource use to decrease costs
  • Optimize existing Data Center physical infrastructure to reduce operating expenses and delay future capital expenditures
  • Ability to view, monitor and manage the PUE/REF/CUE across all IT structures
  • Dynamic management of virtual machines to maximize the availability of applications and systems
  • Monitor and automation of equipment to reduce costs and ensure maximum availability
  • Monitor IT equipment such as servers, switches and routers to reduce costs and ensure maximum availability
  • Custom graphical representation of systems for proactive monitoring and management
  • Instantly calculate installation locations for IT devices for greater agility
  • Ability to support space management business processes for multi-tenant facilities.

Medielettra designs and implements systems integration solutions in order to create a single DCIM platform capable of communicating with third parties as well and of managing the entire Data Center infrastructure. A single infrastructure capable of:

  • monitor, measure the data coming from the sensors of the devices in the field
  • correlate the data collected with indicators of the state of health and correct functioning of the Data Center
  • represent the entire Data Center infrastructure through customized dashboards starting from the "supply chain" to the status of the server fan or the status and availability of subsidiary power supplies such as the generator set.
We design and create customized, interactive and scalable dashboards for the DCIM system for displaying all the significant parameters from the Data Center sensors making them easily readable and interpretable by the operator in charge of the control. Specifically, we offer customized solutions for the design and implementation of the infrastructure and monitoring and supervision management of the Data Centers.

The management and monitoring platform of the entire infrastructure created by Medielettra is capable of:
  • interface with Data Center devices such as rPDUs, precision air conditioning units, sensor gateways, etc. including network devices such as servers, switches, routers
  • interface with supply chain devices such as generator sets, UPS, STS, power meters
  • measure, monitor, command remote actions on enabled devices
  • register the entire DCIM infrastructure and make it interfaceable with other Data Center registry monitoring systems
  • make all the parameters detected by the Data Center sensors available, typically on applications from OFFICE365
  • make the alarm signals coming from DCIM available on other alarm acquisition and management systems via "message broker"
  • analyze applications and processes within the Data Center
  • relate the data collected with known behaviors in the Data Center and, through a customized and user-friendly representation of the data, allow to understand what is happening inside the Data Center instantly and what could happen in certain critical conditions.

REPORTS ON ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

The comprehensive Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform provides easy access to data, reports and summary documents related to energy, carbon emissions and other assets across the enterprise.

Advanced data capture features provide insight into insights and customizable dashboards allow for instant performance checks. You will be able to manage projects, make decisions and develop strategies for energy management and sustainability in complete safety.

DEFINITION OF OBJECTIVES AND MONITORING OF RESULTS

The Resource Advisor modules are designed to help you identify your business goals and deliver forecasts and plans and enable you to make informed decisions as they are integrated to create multiple possible scenarios.

CENTRALIZED MONITORING OF PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Immediate fault notification and escalation accelerates resolution of critical infrastructure events.

Whether installed within a Data Center, a remote office or on a campus, Data Center Expert and devices in the fields of power, cooling, environmental control and security provide a complete centralized monitoring solution.

Data Center Expert combines environmental readings, energy measurements and camera images from all sites within the network into a common management platform. Images and alerts from across the enterprise can be instantly viewed and managed, trends can be analyzed and problems avoided providing unmatched physical threat management.

INTEGRATION WITH POWER MANAGEMENT AND BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

The integration between Building Management systems and PowerLogic IONEnterprise allows you to obtain information on the operating status of critical support systems in the rooms where the electrical and mechanical equipment is located, as well as data on power quality and electrical distribution.

WEB SERVICES API

Instantly access Data Center Expert alerts, data, reports, and trends through existing dashboards or create custom portals for views containing financial, operational, alarm or other data.

MONITORING AND CENTRALIZED ALERTS

  • Multi-vendor support for monitoring any networked device regardless of manufacturer
  • Real-time monitoring, notification, and immediate fault escalation accelerate resolution of critical infrastructure events
  • Centralized repository containing critical data that can be accessed by multiple users from anywhere on the network
  • Future trends to get more detailed information for a complete view of the infrastructure planning and budgeting status
  • Custom alert reporting and escalation by device, rack or location to the right technical resources at the right time
  • Open, flexible architecture that grows as business needs evolve by licensing additional devices and add-on applications for surveillance, control, and operations
  • Complete system for software developers (SDK) that allows maximum flexibility through customized integration with other systems.

DATA CENTER OPERATION: IT POWER CONTROL CAPACITY -
CENTRALIZED MONITORING OF PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Data Center Operation IT Power Capacity, based on Intel® DCM, allows you to define an upper limit for rack-level power consumption to achieve an optimized infrastructure and defer investments in physical equipment.

Setting an upper limit for server and rack energy consumption allows you to increase rack density reducing over-provisioning and ensuring that the Data Center operates within its capacity limit without compromising availability and safety margins.

Redistribution of energy density according to criticality levels is simplified by the use of rack-based policy configurations, ensuring energy savings and deferred physical equipment investments.

In the event of a UPS failure, business operations are unaffected, as the maximum level of power consumption ensures that business-critical racks and servers continue to be powered, while also preventing unintentional activation of circuit breakers.
